Prayer A Powerful Connection
– Let Kids Learn from Early age
“One thing that I am always quick to remind people of is that our spiritual
health is just as important as our physical and mental health. When we practice
positivity, gratitude, and prayer, we are taking the right steps to becoming
spiritually healthy.”
Let’s
dive deeper into the benefits of these mindful practices that one should develop from
childhood.
Childhood is the best time to teach prayer
and instil the habit of
praying daily. It is in this early
phase of life when children
can easily develop belief without any
preconceived notions. Those sweet and simple prayers are full of
faith that good things will happen and God will take care of everything!
There
are lot of Different ways of praying.
Private
prayer means to pray alone. This is considered very important as it is a time
when they can personally connect with God. Prayer, meditation, and singing
simple sutras can all be easily done at home.
Extemporaneous prayers
are prayers that are said without preparation.
An example of this something as simple
as a prayer wishing speedy recovery of someone who may have been ill or met
with an accident etc.
Communal
prayer means to pray with others. This regularly happens in schools or
religious places. This type of prayer can help us connect with like-minded
people and generate more faith.
Prayers are a crucial
part of a child’s upbringing. When schools conduct prayers regularly, these
daily prayers and in turn Faith becomes an integral part of the
student’s life.
Kids are naturally spiritual, they love unconditionally, and they are always overflowing with joy. They are filled with innocence and hence they need prayers to build and maintain their faith.
Faith is something that
pulls everyone through hard times and helps us overcome all sorrows along with
giving us the ability to appreciate the good things we already have in our
lives.
Prayers are a kid’s
conversation with God, and it is our duty to help them communicate. Given below
are a few reasons as to why daily prayers are an important part of your kid’s
day:
Praying imparts
benefits at all the three levels of activity, thought and attitude.
Researchers have analysed
the power of prayer on physical and mental wellness. A 2015 study of patients with congestive heart failure found that experiencing spiritual peace
was a better predictor of mortality risk than even comorbidities and functional
health. Another study found that religiosity increased
optimism in people with major depressive disorder and chronic conditions. Other practices
such as Yoga, Tai-chi, and Meditation can
also have a positive impact on physical and psychological health.
There are so many
methods which you can utilize when teaching children to pray, but the best one
is by example.
Your
child will develop a strong faith and begin to understand the power of prayer
just by seeing you pray. Praying together as a family or praying with your
child is invaluable to their spiritual growth.
When a child wakes up, their thoughts should
not be just on thankfulness for themselves, but a conscious word towards others
they may encounter throughout the day. It should consider the dilemmas as well as the happiness that everyone in
the world will experience that day. Those same thoughts and considerations
should also be included when is time
for bedtime prayers.
During the day, it is also great to encourage a
moment of prayer whenever they see something that bothers them or causes them a
sense of unease. The same sentiment should also prevail when they see something that inspires wonder
and happiness. Both situations simply
serve as a reason to strengthen their communication with self.
Prayer is a great tool to teach empathy
and understanding outside perspectives. When it is added to the routine of prayers for
themselves and those in their lives, the presence of others comes naturally as
an extension. Conscious effort of
praying in everyday
situations helps to grow the sense of respect and concern for those around them
as well as a world away. The
level of compassion that comes with prayer also builds better ethics in
addition to a sense of morality.
I sincerely pray to God to wish you all health, wealth and happiness in the New Year ahead.
